We will discover the uniqueness of Bayan Ulgii province, where centuries-old Kazakh traditions come to life for next couple of days. Nestled in the majestic Altai Mountains, the Kazakh people represent one of Mongolia’s largest ethnic minorities. Here, they continue to practice their ancient art of eagle hunting, a breathtaking skill passed down through generations. In the winter months, when the pelts of foxes, rabbits, and wolves are at their finest, Kazakh hunters team up with their trained golden eagles for the ultimate wildlife pursuit. After years of partnership, these majestic birds are released back into the wild to breed, preserving this timeless tradition.
Experience this incredible tradition at the Golden Eagle Festival, a two-day celebration of skill, endurance, culture, and adventure. The festival kicks off with a vibrant parade, where hunters display their traditional outfits and hunting gear—perfect for stunning photos. Watch as eagles demonstrate their agility, flying from cliffs to their owners’ arms. On the second day, witness thrilling hunting displays and the kukbar contest, a traditional game of strength and horsemanship. The festival concludes with an awards ceremony and a special celebration dinner featuring Kazakh dance and music. Overnight in a traditional ger for an immersive cultural experience. (B/L/D)
