Start the day with an exciting 250 km drive to Baga Gazriin Chuluu, a stunning basalt and granite rock formation rising 1,750 meters high in the heart of the Gobi. This rugged, remote rock mountain is home to the ruins of a 17th-century Buddhist meditation temple, adding a mystical charm to the landscape. Spend the night in a traditional ger camp, surrounded by the timeless beauty of Mongolia’s Gobi Desert. (B/L/D)
Today starts with 260 km drive to Tsagaan Suvarga. The route promises an adventurous journey, with rugged dirt roads and bumpy tracks that reward incredible landscapes along the way. Capture breathtaking photos and enjoy the tranquility of the remote scenery, stopping at Sum Huh Burd—a charming island teeming with birdlife and home to ancient temple ruins.
Arrive in the late afternoon at Tsagaan Suvarga, also known as the White Stupa. This striking limestone formation stands 30-60 meters high and stretches 400 meters long. Once an ocean bed, Tsagaan Suvarga reveals fascinating marine fossils and clamshells within its vibrant, colorful cliffs—especially stunning in the early morning and evening light. Its unique structure resembles Buddhist stupas, lending it an otherworldly charm. End the day with an overnight stay at a ger camp. (B/L/D)
Start a day with an early morning visit to Tsagaan Suvarga, a breathtaking location perfect for capturing stunning photos during sunrise. Experience the beauty of the cliffs as you hike along the scenic trails, descending and ascending to take in the spectacular views. Then we will start a 230 km drive to South Gobi. Arrive at the cozy ger camp in the afternoon, where we will have free time to relax and unwind. Spend the night in the comfort of the ger camp, surrounded by the enchanting landscape of the Gobi Desert. (B/L/D)
Begin the day with an early morning drive to Eagle Valley (Yoliin Am) National Park, covering 180 km. Experience the stunning beauty of Yol Valley as you hike through this narrow canyon carved by a river flowing through the Zuun Saikhan Mountains. Towering rock walls rise 200 meters above, providing shelter to lush green meadows and a remarkable layer of ice that often lingers deep within the canyon walls. In the afternoon, continue the journey to the Khongor Sand Dunes, passing through the narrow Dungenee Canyon, where only one vehicle can fit at a time. Upon arrival at the magnificent Khongor Sand Dunes, settle in for the night at a cozy ger camp, surrounded by breathtaking desert landscape.(B/L/D)
The Khongor Sand Dunes, one of the Gobi’s most remarkable natural wonders, stretch an impressive 180 km and reach up to 20 km in width. Located along the northern slopes of the beautiful Servei and Zuulun mountain ranges, these dunes are known as the “Singing Dunes.” As the wind sweeps across their 200-meter-high peaks, they emit a captivating sound, creating a mesmerizing experience.
Nestled nearby is the lush Khongor River oasis, vibrant with greenery in the summer. Here, enjoy a memorable camel ride on the two-humped Bactrian camels, affectionately called “Living Dinosaurs” by locals, and observe the unique lifestyle of the camel breeders.
After lunch, we’ll drive 180 km to the Flaming Cliffs, known as Bayanzag, which formed 60-70 million years ago. Named by American explorer Roy Chapman Andrews during his 1920s expedition, these stunning red rock formations are famous for their rich deposits of dinosaur fossils, eggs, and bones, making them a world-renowned paleontological site. Surrounded by unique Saxaul tree forests, Bayanzag offers an unforgettable landscape to explore on foot, allowing you to discover its ancient secrets before settling in for an overnight stay at a traditional ger camp. (B/L/D)
Begin the day with a morning drive to Ongi Monastery, covering 160 km through the stunning steppe landscape. Upon arrival at the camp, relax before exploring the ruins of Ongi Monastery. Nestled on both the south and north banks of the Ongi River, Ongi was once a significant monastery in the Gobi Desert, consisting of two separate complexes connected by a bridge.
On the southern bank stood the 320-year-old Hutagt Monastery, which included nine main temples, as well as smaller temples and stupas. The Balim Monastery, built approximately 240 years ago on the northern bank, featured 13 main temples along with additional structures, including stupas. At its peak, the monastery housed over 1,000 monks and comprised four religious institutions. Sadly, following the communist purge of the 1930s, only a stupa remains from this once-thriving complex. Spend the night at a cozy ger camp. (B/L/D)
A morning drive north to Zorgol Khairkhan Mountain, located 260 km away. This sacred mountain is situated in the Bayan Unjuul soum of Tov aimag (province), approximately 150 km from Ulaanbaatar. Just 3 km east of Zorgol Khairkhan are the Ar Burd Sand Dunes, a small expanse measuring 2-5 km in width and length, set within a vast semi-steppe landscape. The dunes are bordered by green grasslands and scattered trees to the south. Spend the night at a cozy ger camp. (B/L/D)
Begin the day with an early morning drive back to Ulaanbaatar, covering 160 km as you return to civilization and the vibrant city life. After checking into your hotel in the afternoon, take a moment to bid farewell to your travel team. If time allows, enjoy a city tour and indulge in some shopping at local markets and State Department Store. Spend the night in the comfort of your hotel. (B/L/D)
