The Kazakhs continue to uphold the ancient tradition of hunting with eagles, a practice that has been passed down through generations. Men in this vibrant culture train these magnificent birds of prey, which are captured from their nests when they are young. During the summer months, the Kazakh hunters dedicate time to nurturing and training their eagles, preparing them for the upcoming hunting season.
As winter approaches, the birds are intentionally starved to increase their hunger and instinct for the hunt. Throughout the summer, these majestic eagles are often kept outside the traditional gers, tethered but well cared for, allowing them to adapt to their environment. Remarkably, these incredible birds are used for hunting until they reach the age of about 15, at which point they are gracefully released back into the wild, completing the circle of life.
Tonight, immerse yourself in the warmth of Kazakh hospitality by spending the night in a tent located near a Kazakh family’s ger. This unique experience provides a deeper connection to the culture and traditions of the Kazakh people, enriching your adventure in this enchanting land. (B/L/D)
